Pools set for the 18th women’s Asian Championship in China

AVC HQ in Bangkok, February 13, 2015 – The pools for the 18th women’s Asian Championship in China were revealed by the AVC.
There are 4 groups (A – D) with the host country China leading group A. Thailand – the 17th champion, Japan and South Korea lead group B, C and D consecutively.

Group A: China, Iran, Fiji, India
Group B: Thailand, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Sir Lanka
Group C: Japan, Vietnam, Mongolia, Turkmenistan
Group D: S. Korea, Kazakhstan, Australia, Philippines

In the qualification round, Thailand will play the first match with Taiwan on May 20th, with Hong Kong on the next day, and with Sri Lanka on May 22nd. In the second round, The first and second ranked teams from group A and C will join the same group while the top two teams of both group B and D will be grouped in the same nature. The win-lose points from the first round are carried over to the second round.

“The first round for the Thailand team should ‘ not  be much concerned. The second round, however, if the team can carry positive performance, it should expect good result. Mr. Sharnrit Wongprasert, Secretary of the AVC said.
